I realized yesterday that I've developed a new and slightly odd habit of staring blankly at inanimate objects for extended periods of time until someone or something snaps me out of it. I'm not depressed, or sad, I'm just completely lost on a journey into my own mind. I'm totally zoned out. Getting those floaty, scattered thoughts out of my distracted brain and onto paper is almost impossible, too. Focusing my energies is a struggle. Add to this the fact that my summer has involved more traveling for me than I did in the entirety 2012, mainly to visit my very ill father, and I think I'm spread a little too thin.
In short: I need a break! I'm taking a long-awaited, much-needed, week-long vacation this Saturday to beautiful Sauble Beach with my mom and twin brothers. In the meantime, I'm trying my best to finish a handful of posts to share with you over the next week in an attempt to get back on track.
But what's been up the last month, you say? Well, actually, a lot. And no, I'm not going to talk about shocking betrayals or The Walking Dead.
Firstly, I got a few lovely mentions from a few amazing places that I wanted to share because they gave me the warm fuzzies. Talented Toronto film blogger Ryan McNeil was nice enough to give me a shout-out a few weeks ago on his blog The Matinee. Give it a gander!
I was also inducted into the Large Association of Movie Blogs (LAMB) which was great because it helped me to connect with a lot of other members of the film blogging community (which was why I applied to be featured on their site to begin with!). I'm always looking to meet like-minded people who love movies, love writing, and love a great debate. Hopefully I'll continue to connect with as many as possible, because it makes me feel less like a writer-hermit.
So here's to getting back on track, here's to impending vacations, and here's to being Single in Toronto (again). Thanks to all who read, comment, and send so much love my way. It means the world to me!
